The one day of the year that women make a concerted effort to get out and ride.
It's not a feminist thing. Not for me anyway. And I have never been the sort of girl that won't do something because it's only for guys.
Oh, wait. I lied. I have never tried to write my name in the snow with a free-flowing stream of piss. That really is something uniquely male.
But motorcycling isn't. Anyone can ride a bike. Really. They come in all shapes and sizes. And there are lots of classes available where you can learn. Once you get your license, it just takes practice.
I have been looking forward to this, quietly, for weeks. I didn't want to jinx myself. I can't spare a PTO day. And my job is very deadline-driven, with many of those deadlines being on Fridays. While I can usually finagle a few hours out of the day, unless I have a document to finalize, I didn't want to plan ahead and have something come up.
Hopefully the day will go smoothly and I'll get to cut out of here for awhile.
As a woman, getting out on IFRD is important. I applaud the awareness effort. It's cool to actually show the world that women can ride, too.
I really enjoy riding. It's fun. And relaxing.
Hopefully I'll snag some good pix to share later.
As the e-mail from Motoress today said, "Let the 4th be with you."
Corny, yes, but it made me laugh. Here's some more corniness to end this post...
I am woman, watch me ride!
